Happy Packs – Bunyip Fire Victims

We are collecting items for “Happy Packs” for people affected by the Bunvip Fires (29 homes were lost & 215 people affected in one way or another)

Shoe box size of lovely stuff…….

Adults: hand cream, shavers, toothpaste/brushes, nice soaps, hairbrush, chocolate etc….

Children: pencils, felt pens, colouring books, lollies, general stationery, phone cases or picture frames etc……

If you have anything you can contribute, can you bring to guides next week please? We appreciate any donations.

ANZAC Day ‘Saluting their Service’ Badge

In 2018, the ANZAC Day ‘Saluting their Service’ Badge will focus on life at home during times of war.  Guides are encouraged to conduct research or undertake activities focusing on life at home during times of war.

Girl Guides Starts Tuesday

Anzac Day, Gumnuts, Juniors, Kingston District, Seniors, Service, Uniform

Gumnuts & Juniors starts at 6:15pm Tuesday- remember juniors need to bring along Commonwealth Games challenge. Junior Parent Roster will be at sign in table for parents to fill in. Remember Child Safety Laws – we need you to be registered with Guides Vic before assisting this term with juniors/gumnuts. Please call/text me if you need assistance with this needed urgently. Parent helpers are essential to both a successful program & appropriate ratios of leaders/adults to youth members.

Seniors starts at 7:15pm

Please remember to wear full uniform each week & bring along any handbook & Badge books.

Anzac Day March forms have been sent – please check your email inboxes as they now come directly from Guides Vic.

Fairies & Gnomes Festival 2018

When: Sunday 18th March 2018

Time: 10am – 4pm

Where: GEORGE WOODS RESERVE, GOVERNOR ROAD, MORDIALLOC MELWAYS 92 G 2

We need help from our girl guides to advertise Girl Guides. This festival is aimed at young children. We need all guide age groups to assist to demonstrate our patrol system & all the opportunities girl guides represent.

We are requesting help for 1 1/2 hours on the day. This time can be signed off on their Service Flash or Action Guide Badge or another challenge.

We are planning (hoping – depending on helpers) to do mini volcanos, flying fairy rockets & fairy wands.

Please comment below with your allocated time. Please look at comments to evenly space out our helpers.

10:00 – 11:30 (4 helpers – inc parents to help set up marquee)

11:30 – 1:00

1:00 – 2:30

2:30 – 4:00 (inc parents to help take down marquee)

 

 

Guide Biscuits 🍪 @ Bunnings Carrum Downs

Hi, we have been asked to sell Girl Guide Biscuits this Saturday at Carrum Downs Bunnings from 9-4. 

We would love to see Girl Guides selling the biscuits (remember it can be signed off for their action Guide badge!) 

Please comment below if you can attend a time slot:- 

No 1 – 9am to 11am (arrive 20 minutes earlier to assist setting up)

No 2 – 11am to 1pm 

No 3 – 1pm to 3pm 

No 4 – 2pm to 4pm (pack up as well) 

Minga can only be there from 9-2 & I am unable to attend due to another commitment. We need a parent/leader to stay from 2-4pm & pack up remaining gear to be returned to Guide hall following week.

Plastic Free Pledge

Go plastic free in July! 


Juniors made a pledge at guides to reduce, reuse & recycle ♻️. Say no to single use plastic like straws, plastic bags & plastic cups! They made badges to wear & one for a friend to wear. Spread the word & go plastic Free!. Part of the EnviroGuide Badge 2017 (to be sewn on back of sash). 

 

Environmental Guide 2017

Last night we started our Enviro Badge.  Juniors & Gumnuts to complete 5 challenges for the badge. One from Awareness, Action, Service & Impact plus one extra. At guides last night, many guides completed two challenges (Impact – Recycling Game & Action – Story of the Earth).

Next week at guides, will make badges for the guides to wear stating to Refuse plastics that escape as litter (e.g. straws, takeaway cups, utensils, balloons)”
