Girl Guides Victoria activities suspended

Dear Girl Guides Victoria members,
This is an important announcement about Girl Guides Victoria’s response to COVID-19 (Coronavirus).

To support the health and well-being of girls, volunteers and the wider community all Girl Guide Victoria activities, including meetings, training, off site activities, camps and events are being suspended effective immediately until the beginning of Term 2 (14 April 2020). During this period we will be monitoring the situation and this decision will then be re-assessed in line with public health advice.

Due to the rapidly changing situation with COVID-19 (Coronavirus) we do not wish to put our members and/or their families at risk. This decision reflects the Girl Guide values of caring for each other, for Australia and for the world. This is our part to play in protecting the vulnerable members of our families and communities, and working towards more positive days for all of us.

We will continue to communicate updates on the situation and any changes by email so please keep your details up to date with us. We are also developing a Frequently Asked Questions page on our website which we will update regularly over the next four weeks.

To keep Girl Guides connected and involved over this time, we are working on an exciting new online program so that Girl Guides in Victoria will have activities they can do at home. Information about this program will be announced by email, on Facebook and Instagram shortly.

The Joyce Price Centre in Docklands (Girl Guides Victoria retail shop and office) will be closed from Tuesday 17 March until Monday 13 April 2020. The Guide Shop will also be closed, including online sales. We will do our best to send any orders received before that date and will communicate with anyone whose order cannot be filled. Our staff will continue to support volunteers and members and will be contactable through the main phone line (03 8606 3500 only) and email.

For up to date information on COVID-19 in Victoria and information about precautions you can take please see the Department of Health and Human Services website:

We appreciate your understanding and support during this time and look forward to welcoming members back to their units once it is safe to do so.

Yours in Guiding,

Holly Bracken, Governance Chair
Shannon Cheal, Chief Executive Officer
Janelle Howell, State Commissioner
