FYI – Space Night at Mt Martha
UncategorizedThe Mornington Peninsula Astronomical Society are putting on another night specifically designed for helping kids achieve the Guides’ and Scouts’ Outer Space Badge. This event is located at the observatory in Mt Martha during Science Week (Friday 24th August). This event is organised through the Astronomy Club, and not through Girl Guides – All bookings are made through MPAS and Girls would need to organise their own transport and have an adult with them. Let Blossom know if you are planning to attend.

UncategorizedWe are also participating in the special activities run by the seniors tonight- wear old clothes – purple for Gumnuts, if possible, and bring something to cover your eyes during the colour run.
Bring a little bit of spending money for the patrol stalls, too!

Fairies and Gnomes
Fairies & Gnomes Festival, Fundraising | Community, Gumnuts, Kingston District, Teamwork & LeadershipAccording to the blog posts, it looks like we could do with a bit of Girl Guide representation for the last shift 2:30-4pm including a bit of help from some tall people (grown ups?) for a quick pack up of the marquee!
Guides who volunteer will be helping any little people to do the activities planned. It’s a great event to show off the leadership skills that are being developed through guiding – not to mention SO much fun!
The weather looks like it’s not going to be too uncomfortable, after all. It should be a great day.

Badges, GumnutsThis week at Gumnut Guides, we are going to try and complete our fire badge. This is our first ‘Create a Challenge’ badge for the lovely new sashes.
Our four challenges are:
Light a candle
Cook a marshmallow over a candle
Learn a new campfire song
Make an edible campfire on a biscuit.
It will be a very busy night!
